Examination of in-patients
Diagnostics are carried out in cooperation with other departments of the Vetsuisse Faculty at the University of Bern and with internal and external laboratories.
We work together with the Institutes of Veterinary Bacteriology, Parasitology, Animal Pathology and Animal Neurology, the Clinical Laboratory, and the Department of Clinical Radiology. Samples are sent to the IVI in Mittelhäusern and, within the framework of research projects, to the Vetsuisse Faculty at the University of Zurich. In special cases, samples are also examined in foreign laboratories.

- Blood profile
- Urinalysis
- Cerebrospinal fluid examination
- Examination of joint aspirates
- Serology
- Direct and indirect pathogen detection of bacteria, viruses, and parasites
- Necropsies
- Production of X-ray images, especially in cases of musculoskeletal disorders
- Ultrasound
